The Tennessee Three
If any Americans still doubted that institutional racism is alive and well in America and that is the greatest threat to the survival of democracy in this country, it will be very difficult to deny this fact after watching what unfolded on April 6, 2023 during the Tennessee State House of Representativs proceedings with the expulsion of two young Black Representatives for standing up, speaking out and taking action on behalf of their constituents, which they were duly elected to represent. As the one white woman Representatives who stood up in solidarity with her two Black colleagues said when asked why she wasn’t voted to be expelled by the house majority while her black colleagues were expelled, her response was very simple “It might have something to do with the color of my skin!” This is why our work at ARCC is so important. It is time for you to stand up, speak out and take action and #JoinARCC today.
