Bringing Black Lives Matter into School

For ARCC members who are also parents, it’s important that we are starting our children’s anti-racist education from early childhood in the home. Today groups like “Moms For Liberty” are actively pushing for white washed history and banning books on topics like slavery and black historic figures. We need to push back on these groups within our individual communities and there are groups like Black Lives Matter in Schools that are providing the networking and resources to do just that.

Their website offers a year round curriculum, recognizing that all history is black history and its not reserved to just one month a year. In addition, there are student activities and challenges and opportunities to engage together. Under their resources page, check out their ‘Week of Action’ Starter Kit to find ways you can influence your own community schools and learners.
